The Queen Charlotte-19'
19' LOA * 24" BEAM * 12" DEPTH * 43 LBS.

Queen Charlotte 19
Expedition Kayaking
John designed the Queen Charlotte-19' for expedition kayaking. Many of us dream of taking 2 months to paddle British Columbia's Barclay Sound, or head south to Baja's Sea of Cortez, or explore Southeast Alaska's indented coastline. Home builders have paddled QC-19's on all these adventures, plus innumerable more.
Her beam is 24", just like the QC-standard. At 19' she has 2 more feet of storage space and waterline length. The QC-19' weighs 43 lb. and will carry 200 pounds of gear. Many people like the greater carrying capacity for shorter trips as well.

Quarter View of QC-19Large Paddlers
The QC-19' fits large paddlers. Men and women 6' and taller, gain more stability from her long waterline, yet keep a trim 24" beam for excellent speed. Long legs have plenty of space to stretch without sacrificing gear space. Another consideration in ensuring a good fit for full days of paddling is shoe size. Under a men's size 11, you have plenty of space to wear paddling sandals--even sailing boots. Those with size 11 and 12 need to wear wet suit booties to optimize their space. Many paddlers with size 12 and up prefer the extra space of the Queen Charlotte-XL our GoldenEye-HI or our Arctic Tern Hi.

Elegant Lines
Some people choose to build the Queen Charlotte-19' because they like her long, graceful lines. Of course, a 19' boat has a lengthy waterline. This translates into speed when the kayak is paddled hard. She's the fastest of the Queen Charlottes at racing pace.

We usually ship "Medium" hardener with our kits.  You may order "Slow" (for hot climates) or "Fast" (for cold climates) upon request.  Read the System Three Epoxy Book to help select a hardener. If you would like a copy of the Epoxy Book click here to download.

We also stock Silver Tip epoxy.  SilverTip Laminating Resin is a medium-low viscosity epoxy system that has been optimized for coating and reinforcing fabric saturation in wood-composite boatbuilding.  It has superior wet-out characteristics with little tendency to foam or trap air.  Both the resin and hardener are nearly colorless and are used in an easy 2:1 ratio.  The working time is longer than most boat building epoxies without sacrificing cure time.  We offer this an an option in our boat kits. Note: this item can only ship via Ground Service and is not eligible  for shipments to Alaska. Please plan accordingly.

Full Kit $1019
