Canoecopia 2014: Call For Volunteers

March 7 – 9, Madison, WI

Canoecopia is held in Madison, WI in a huge convention center, and is considered the “largest paddle sports event in the world”. By the second day last year there were so many people crammed in our display that you could hardly turn around.  We were hoarse by the end from talking, but we thoroughly enjoyed meeting local Pygmy kit builders and sharing in the enthusiasm and contagious excitement for a new season. Although the lakes were still frozen and snow was falling outside, everyone inside was buzzing with a shared passion for a sport that takes us outside and into beautiful places.

All of the boats in our display last year were provided by builders in the area.  They were beautiful and we proudly displayed their accomplished construction.  People at the show especially loved hearing that the boats were made in the area. If you have a Pygmy boat you are proud of and would enjoy sharing it in the display, please contact Laura.

We have found folks really enjoy speaking with other people who have built their own boats.  Volunteers were put to work last year helping to explain the kit construction process to people interested in stitch and glue boat building.  If you are interested in volunteering, we could definitely use a few more voices. All volunteers will receive a shirt or hat plus a free pass to Canoecopia for the day they volunteer. Folks volunteering their boat will get two free passes for the full weekend. If this sounds like fun, shoot us an email!

We hope to see you in Madison!

We enjoyed getting to meet folks like Barb & Gene Geiger at Canoecopia last year.  Barb & Gene paddled the entire Mississippi in their  Osprey Double this last year to highlight service organizations along the Mississippi that devote their time and energy to helping those in need.  Read more about their incredible journey.
