Bidding for Good: Washington Water Trails Association

Buy a Kit or Gear & Support a Good Cause

wooden kayak kit Pygmy

The Washington Water Trails Association works to ensure public access to water trails such as the one shown above. Water trail camping sites and trailheads are available for public use.

Each year we get hundreds of requests for kit donations to multiple worthy causes. While we wish we could support them all, this year we chose to donate a kit to the Washington Water Trails Association. Located in our home state, the WWTA works to ensure physical and informational access to Washington’s waterways for non-motorized boaters. They are a great resource for paddlers in the state (or those visiting) as they offer maps and campsite information to members and further work to increase shoreline access for the entire public.

The fundraiser this year for WWTA is an online auction taking place April 25th-May 2nd. For some items, including the kit, bidding continues through the live auction on Sat May 4, 2013 5:30 PM-8PM PDT (absentee bidding is available).  We’ve donated a solo kayak kit of choice, so if you’ve been planning on ordering a solo kayak this is a great opportunity to purchase a kit and support a good cause. Other ways to get involved include becoming a member of the WWTA (which gives you access to watertrail maps and routes) or by becoming a site steward.

The WWTA maintains water trail maps that show where campsites are located.
